                                               VILLAGES AND TOWNS OF CYPRUS

 Xylofagou village is well known for its people’s friendliness and wonderful little tavernas where many Cypriots and foreigners travel from other villages just for the great food served. The village offers beautiful little pebble coves with crystal clear waters excellent for snorkeling or deep sea diving. Along the coastline you will be able to see the sea caves and the local fishing harbor with its little own coffee shop man made by the locals. During the summer the villagers spend their weekends with their families cooking traditional foods on the barbeque along the seafront and in the winter they enjoy long walks along the coastline cliffs picking asparagus and other wild plants where they later cook and serve as a traditional meal. In the village you can find a large supermarket and many small shops, banks, post office and bakery.
Already amongst the villagers you will find over a thousand Europeans who have made Xylophagou their home.   
Driving to the holiday resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras will take you around 10-15 minutes and to Larnaca International Airport 25 minutes.

Liopetri a local fishing village where The "river" of Liopetri, Potamos,  is only a five minute drive from the village where many fisherman from Liopetri enjoy catching fresh fish.
Just 10 minutes drive from the beaches of Ayia Napa and only a 35 minute drive to Larnaca airport.

 Sotira a small local village located only a five minute drive from the beach of Ayia Thekla and a 10 minute drive to Ayia Napa. In the centre of the village you can find small shops, banks, and a few small tavernas.

Frenaros village takes its name from the Lusignan monks, also known as Fremenors, who lived in the nearby monastery of Panagia of Hortanion. Just outside of Frenaros you can find one of the few secondary schools located in the red soil district. The village offers all amenities needed and is only a 10 minute drive to the town of paralimni.

 Deryneia is well known for its strawberries yielding 60% of the strawberry crop for Cyprus holding a bi-annual strawberry festival. Deryneia offers many amenities along with places of interest like an amphitheatre which is used throughout the summer for music and dance performances. You can also find a folk museum along with the well known Famagusta view point. Deryneia is only a couple of minutes drive to the centre of Paralimni as Deryneia has already nearly joined the town of Paralimni.

 Vrysoulles offers all the amenities of a small village, including supermarkets, restaurants, pubs and schools and also caters for the workforce of the nearby British Army Bases, of Ayios Nicolaos. The border located in Vrysoulles has now made it possible to drive to the open area of the occupated town of Famagusta to view the famous golden sand beaches and the closed section of Famagusta which still remains today the same as it was left in 1974 during the Turkish invasion.

 Avgorou is a village combined of old Cypriot charm offering vast green fields and beautiful scenery only a five minute drive from the Acna Dam where fisherman are able to buy permits for a small fee. At the centre of the village you can find all your everyday amenities and is within a 15 minute drive to holiday resort of Ayia Napa.

 
Protaras used to once be a small village located on the eastern coast of Cyprus where the locals lived and depended on the agriculture and fishing. Now it is one of the hottest tourist areas on the island. You will be able to find all amenities that a tourist area offers including clubs, bars, restaurants, beaches, hotels, water sports etc. It is a 10 minute drive away from the also popular resort of Ayia Napa and local villages. Larnaca Airport is about a 45 minute drive away

Paralimni is the only town in the Famagusta area. In this once small village you can find many central banks, electricity board, telephone companies and many large supermarkets with local prices. If you visit the square of Ayios Georgios you will find a range of different shops and coffee bars.

Ayia Napa once a small fishing village and now one of the biggest tourist locations on the island, well known for its night life and beautiful beaches offers all amenities needed for a great holiday including bungee jumping!

 

TROODOS MOUNTAINS 

Although Cyprus does not have cold temperatures along the coastal areas and Nicosia if you visit the mountains of Troodos during the winter months you will enjoy the snow and the ski slopes available.
During the summer months you will find Troodos a wonderful location to visit as it is the coolest of the island with breathtaking scenery really worth seeing.
Also of interest is Mount Olympus which is the highest point at 1,951 meters and the
Kykkos Monastery where there is a museum with ancient findings of icons, holy objects, manuscripts and embroideries all part of the living adoration and history of the monastery.

 Nicosia the busiest city and capital of Cyprus famous for its shopping malls and great cuisine you will be able to find almost anything you may need. The newest attraction of Nicosia is The Mall shopping center located next to IKEA.

 Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus and the biggest port in the Mediterranean transit trade. Known for its cultural tradition you can find many museums and archaeological sites to visit. Also famous for its shopping area it has become a very popular tourist area especially amongst the Russians

 Paphos is the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite the Goddess of love. It is also a popular tourist destination. It is divided into two major quarters: Ktima, on the sea terrace, the main residential district, and Kato Pafos, by the sea, is built around the medieval port and contains most of the luxury hotels, shops and restaurants. The beaches of Paphos are mainly rocky with crystal clear waters excellent for snorkelling.

Larnaca is known for its palm tree promenade leading on to a sandy beach and Boat Marina. Full of coffee bars, restaurants and hotels is a very popular spot even amongst the Cypriots. Behind the promenade you will be able to find shops with anything from clothes to a wonderful fruit and vegetable market all with local prices.
